Course Objective
This intensive three-day course in forensic psychiatry will provide an in-depth review of selected topics and relevant landmark cases. Basic concepts will be reviewed along with the latest case law. At the conclusion of the course, participants will:

- understand the landmark mental health law cases;
- be able to write more effective forensic reports;
- be able to assess competency and sanity in defendants; and
- be able to detect malingered mental illness.

Format
Teaching methods will include lectures, report writing exercises, discussion of videotaped vignettes and informal interaction with faculty. A PDF of the comprehensive, 1,100-page syllabus with lecture outlines, 100 case summaries, report samples, reading lists, and over 700 self-assessment questions will be provided to all participants at no extra cost.
Continuing Medical Education (CMEs)
The American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy
